And is this safe…

I know a lot of girls that do it but I’m wondering why they would even put the reminder pills so that you would have your period in the first place if you could skip it. I’m on low Ortho Tricyclen Lo. Any side effects? Will it lower the effectiveness?

The creator of birth control pills had originally designed them with no reminder pills so that women would have no periods. However, they did surverys and realized that women would not buy the pills if that meant not having a period. Apparantly there is a huge cultural phenomenon involved with the period….I frankly don’t understand it but apparantly women assosiate their periods with femininity….Also, women want periods on their pills to ensure that they are not pregnant.

Anyways, it is perfectly safe to skip the placebo pills. I personally do it becuase I suffer from Endometriosis. I haven’t had a period in 2.5 years. The pills pay for themselves considering I never have to buy tampons or maxi pads….

I think with that brand….It probably won’t work as well. You will have a lot of breakthrough bleedin gfor awhile. Ask your doctor about a different brand that is better for continuous use. Seasonique works great taken continuously…I think there is a generic for Seasonique.

Good luck!
